Jay Davenport began his position as vice president for Development and Alumni Relations in September 2017. Before joining VCU, Davenport served as associate vice president of individual giving and campaign management at Wake Forest University.
As VCU’s chief development officer, Davenport leads development and alumni engagement efforts for both the university and VCU Health System. Areas under his purview include advancement services, alumni relations, annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, development and alumni communications, donor relations, regional philanthropy and the universitywide development staff.
Davenport has served in several roles at Wake Forest since 2010, including as assistant vice president of college development, assistant vice president of major gifts, and associate vice president and campaign director. Previously, Davenport was director of development and team leader at Rice University and held fundraising positions as a college development director at the University of Memphis College of Business and Wright State University College of Engineering. He began his higher education career as an assistant dean of admissions at Wittenberg University in 1995.
Davenport holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Xavier University and a master's degree in higher education administration from Ball State University.

Michael Morelius comes from St. Edward’s University, where he oversaw the closing of $40 million in new gifts. He managed all major gift and planned giving officers responsible for portfolios of donors with minimum $25,000 gift capacity as well as the corporate and foundation relations office and annual giving program. He joins VCU after a nationwide search for the perfect candidate to help increase the fundraising efforts of the Monroe Park Campus schools and colleges, VCU Athletics and the Institute for Contemporary Art.
From August 2011 to October 2015, Michael was director of development for the College of Science for the Texas A&M Foundation. As team lead, he facilitated the raising of $62 million. He managed a portfolio of 170 households capable of making commitments of $100,000 or more and maintained an average of 21 donor and qualification visits per month.
Michael was director of development at Rice University from October 2006 to July 2011. He began his fundraising career as a student caller at Texas A&M. Over the course of his career, he has directly helped to raise more than $115 million.
He is a graduate of Texas A&M, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1999. He and his wife, Kristen, have two children, Kristopher and Brynne Leigh.

Johnsson joined VCU in 2007 as executive director of external relations and development for the School of Education before taking on his current role in February 2015.
Johnsson brings more than 20 years of fundraising experience and has served volunteer leadership roles as past president of the Virginia Association of Fundraising Executives and the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Central Virginia Chapter. His work experience includes senior leadership roles at UMFS and the United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg. Johnsson received his Certified Fund Raising Executive credentials in 2004 and is a member of the 2015 Class of Leadership Metro Richmond.
He earned a M.P.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University and a B.S. in public administration from James Madison University.
As senior associate vice president for development, Johnsson oversees the areas of principal giving, regional giving and corporate and foundation relations.

James T. Parrish Jr. has a range of development and administrative experience in higher education and the nonprofit sector. Parrish began his development career in 1990 at his alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, working with senior class and reunion giving, before moving into corporate and foundation relations. He came to VCU in 1997 to establish VCU’s Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (1997-2000), worked in the nonprofit sector (2000-2004) at the Valentine and ART 180 and then returned to VCU to serve as director of development of the VCU School of Nursing (2004-2013). In 2013, he returned to corporate and foundation relations and currently serves as director of foundation relations.
In addition to being a performer and filmmaker, Parrish has been a leader in Richmond’s arts community, co-founding both the James River Film Society and Bijou Film Center, and he has taught VCU undergraduate classes in filmmaking and film history for the VCUarts Department of Photography and Film and the School of World Studies. In recognition for his commitment to the Richmond arts community and independent film, Parrish was selected as a Professional Development Fellow for the 57th Robert Flaherty Film Seminar in 2011, honored as one of Style Weekly’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2006 and awarded the Theresa Pollak Prize for Photography/Film in 2005. Parrish earned a B.A. in speech communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989.

Ariana Bracalante has been with VCU since 1987 and a part of Development and Alumni Relations team since 1998.
She has worked in Corporate and Foundation Relations for more than 16 years, focusing on grant development and management, identifying potential funding matches for university priorities and building relationships with area corporate and foundation partners. Samantha Wheeler Marrs joined VCU in 2000 as director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
Today, her primary responsibility is to manage the central departments of the division, including donor relations, communications, annual giving, regional philanthropy and corporate and foundation relations.
Her previous experience includes eight years as program associate at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, where she coordinated higher-education grants. She holds degrees from Smith College and Columbia University. She has served as president of a local middle school PTA, chairman of the board of the Virginia Poverty Law Center and secretary/treasurer of the board of VirginiaFIRST, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding STEM activities across the commonwealth.

Joining the VCU staff in 2015, Richardson earned her B.S. in Marketing at Virginia Tech and an M.L.I.S. at the University of South Carolina.
Richardson had more than 15 years of financial sales, customer service and home health care administrative management experience before diving into the higher education development arena. Her current career path began in 2012 when she joined the staff at the University of South Carolina as director of prospect research. In that position, she grew and expanded the resources, deliverables and capabilities of the prospect research team. Richardson introduced data analytics to the development office by implementing data analysis, predictive modeling and data visualization tools that informed decision making by leadership.
At VCU, Richardson will implement a prospect management system, coordinate prospect strategy, manage the prospect development team and implement data analytics for the development team.

With almost 20 years of professional communications experience, Seiler has greatly expanded the central office of Development and Alumni Communications during her nine years at VCU.
She directs and executes the delivery of multifaceted messages to a variety of audiences, internally and externally, while setting policy and tone for development and alumni communications across the university.
Before arriving at VCU, Seiler worked for nine years at the Richmond Times-Dispatch. She holds a bachelor degree in mass communications with a double major in political science from VCU, where she was executive editor of the thrice-weekly Commonwealth Times, and is a 2012 graduate of the VCU Leadership Development Program at the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute. In 2011, she won an Emmy for her work on an institutional giving video, “Invest in VCU.”

Jenna Hart joined VCU in August 2014 as associate director of annual giving. She works to increase alumni participation by focusing annual giving operations on retaining, renewing and acquiring alumni donors. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration and Management from Virginia Commonwealth University and a master's degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Richmond. She spent five years working at the University of Richmond where she managed direct mail, email and social media annual solicitations for the undergraduate alumni population. Joy Heaton is a CPA who earned a bachelor's degree (double major) in accounting and mathematics. She worked in the banking, insurance, and software development industries for many years before returning to graduate school to earn a master's and doctorate in theology. In 2009 she was diagnosed as being in the final stage of blood cancer and was successfully treated at VCU's Massey Cancer Center, where she recovered fully. In 2012 she and her husband founded a small, nonprofit corporation, Just Compassion, which provides free medical and dental care via mobile units to underserved children in pockets of poverty throughout Virginia and West Virginia. While her husband manages the nonprofit during the week, she does public speaking/fundraising on the weekends. Heaton joined DAR staff in 2017 as a grateful patient/staff accountant and is now manager of finance and budget. She loves giving back to the university that literally saved her life!

Dr. T. Greg Prince joined Virginia Commonwealth University’s College of Health Professions on September 19, 2016. Prince has 21 years of professional experience in university development and advancement. Prior to VCU, Prince led the university advancement effort at Salisbury University, a small public regional institution on Maryland’s eastern shore. During his career, Prince has had a track record of initiating new development programs and donor/stewardship initiatives; as well as forming volunteer groups. He will be serving as the Senior Director of Development for the School and will work closely with the Dean on the School’s top priorities, as well as with the School’s individual department heads.
At SU, Prince created a Women’s Circle focused on philanthropy and mentorship; formed a sales force by adding major gifts officer positions; established an Advancement Services Department; initiated several stewardship efforts, including an annual scholarship luncheon; created a planned giving recognition society and developed a high-end annual fund-level society. He also oversaw the installation of a customer management system which has improved the University’s website. Prince played a role in a multi-million-dollar gift of real estate and a citywide fiber optic cable project, among other major gifts. His work prior to Salisbury focused on academic medicine development at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and at East Carolina University's Medical & Health Sciences Foundation. Prior to this role, he was a senior communications strategy specialist with the State Corporation Commission and worked nearly six years in higher education communications at the University of Richmond, where his writing earned CASE and PRSA regional recognition. Brockwell earned a master’s in public communications from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, and a B.A. in religious studies from William & Mary. In the community, he serves on the Library of Virginia Board, the W&M Leadership Advisory Council, Omicron Delta Kappa’s National Advisory Council, and in various roles at Grace Baptist Church. Priscilla Cash Wiggin joined the VCU School of Medicine’s major giving team in 2015. Priscilla works with alumni in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and West.
Prior to her major gifts officer role, Priscilla served as Assistant Director of Leadership Annual Giving at VCU Massey Cancer Center. Priscilla also served in sales and sales management roles for the pharmaceutical and device-manufacturing companies of Hydro-Photon and Sanofi-Aventis, covering domestic territories in the Northeast as well as in Canada and Mexico. Priscilla’s fundraising career began in San Francisco with the Pacific Crest Outward Bound School, having been a field-based alpine mountaineering and rock climbing instructor for the organization for four years.

Anna E. von Gehr joined VCUarts in January 2019 as executive director for development and strategic initiatives. In this newly created position, von Gehr works concomitantly with the dean of VCUarts in managing philanthropic efforts for the school while developing innovative models for advancement centered on collaborations with the schools of Arts, Medicine, and Business and the College of Engineering.
Before joining VCUarts, she was chief officer for advancement and external affairs for the Florida State University Cultural Center and The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art. Under her leadership she reorganized the development operation, doubling fundraising results and completing a $100 million campaign.
A veteran of museum and arts administration, von Gehr has served in several leadership roles, including director of university arts development at the University of Virginia, Washington and Lee University, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Oakland Museum of California.
She was a Regent Scholar at the University of California Santa Cruz and majored in history. She earned a master's in museum studies with an emphasis in nonprofit management and development from San Francisco State University.

In 2004, Kardos had been charged with reframing the school’s development and alumni program and completing the capital campaign begun in 1999.
