With almost 20 years of professional communications experience, Seiler has greatly expanded the central office of Development and Alumni Communications during her nine years at VCU.
She directs and executes the delivery of multifaceted messages to a variety of audiences, internally and externally, while setting policy and tone for development and alumni communications across the university.
Before arriving at VCU, Seiler worked for nine years at the Richmond Times-Dispatch. She holds a bachelor degree in mass communications with a double major in political science from VCU, where she was executive editor of the thrice-weekly Commonwealth Times, and is a 2012 graduate of the VCU Leadership Development Program at the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute. In 2011, she won an Emmy for her work on an institutional giving video, “Invest in VCU.”

Caldwell joined VCU in 2006 as a managing editor and assistant creative director in University Relations before joining the DAR Communications team in 2015. In her role of associate director of development and alumni marketing and communications, she manages the VCU Alumni magazines, Shafer Court Connections and Scarab; writes and develops communications for membership campaigns and alumni events; and sets strategy for social media. She holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications from VCU.

Coates joined VCU in 2015. In her role of assistant director of donor communications and marketing, she manages and edits Impact, the magazine for donors and friends of VCU, and writes and edits donor impact reports, campaign materials and annual giving communications pieces, among other assignments. Previously, Coates spent 20 years in the magazine publishing industry, at titles including Billboard, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and, most recently, Richmond magazine. A U.K. native, she earned her B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Liverpool in England.

A member of DAR since 2011, Buzby leads the team of direct marketing associates who interact with all units for DAR-related business communications. She is responsible for coordination, scheduling and quality control for alumni and donor emails, direct mail and event communications. Serving as the lead strategist for VCU Alumni social media, Buzby has led successful paid and unpaid social campaigns supporting engagement goals for the offices of annual giving and alumni relations. She earned a B.S. in marketing with a minor in Spanish language from VCU in 2010. Buzby won the DAR Spirit Award in 2015.

Moore joined Development and Alumni Communications in January 2014. In his current role, he serves as creative director for all donor and alumni digital and print productions, including Impact donor magazine, Shafer Court Connections and Scarab alumni magazines, direct mail solicitations, donor events and alumni membership. Moore has worked as part of multiple CASE award-winning productions, including a grand award for graphic design of a donor impact report in 2016. Prior to joining DAR, he spent six years in the VCU Athletics Communications office as a graphic designer and primary media relations contact for six intercollegiate sports. Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a master’s in recreation, parks and sport leadership from VCU.

Joshua Cross joined VCU in March of 2018 as Communications Analyst. He graduated with a B.S. in Information Science from Christopher Newport University in 2010. Prior to joining DAR, he was in the inaugural class of University Fellowship Program at Christopher Newport and later was responsible for maintaining the database used in communicating with prospective students.

Curtis is a leading graphic designer with a passion for higher education design. In 2015, she joined VCU as a creative content assistant. In Development & Alumni Relations, Terri is able to visually reach out to alumni, donors, friends and colleagues. She is enjoying the new campus community and is embracing the Ram culture. Previously, Terri worked for Virginia State University, contributing her diverse design and marketing skills for several campaigns. She holds a bachelor's of fine arts degree in graphic design from VSU and was named Better Creative Directors on the VSU homepage in 2014 to promote the graphic design program. She has a gift for typography and design concepts.

Hood, a member of the Development and Alumni Relations team since May 2015, earned his B.S. in marketing from the VCU School of Business and is currently pursuing his M.B.A. from VCU. His responsibilities include coordinating direct mailing, email and event communications as well as building advanced segments for use in configuring direct marketing efforts into VCU’s CRM -- RADAR. He also serves as a point of contact for universitywide clients regarding the implementation of RADAR, marketing strategy and best practices.

Langley joined Development and Alumni Communications in October 2015 and earned his B.S. in Public Relations from VCU’s Robertson School of Media and Culture in 2016. During his time as a student, he helped design public relations campaigns for the Central Virginia Emergency Management Alliance and the Virginia Department of Social Services. He is responsible for researching and writing articles for the alumni magazine, website, and monthly e-newsletter, as well as helping to develop social media strategies and campaigns.

Naone joined VCU Development and Alumni Communications in 2018. As alumni communications specialist, she researches and writes profiles of outstanding and fascinating VCU alumni, manages the monthly e-newsletter and stays up to date on milestones in the lives of alumni. She previously worked as Information Technology Editor for Web and Social Networking for MIT Technology Review, and then as a freelance writer. As a freelancer, she has written for publications including Astronomy Magazine, Discover Magazine and Atlas Obscura. She holds a B.A. in liberal arts from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, and an S.M. in science writing from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Powell joined VCU in 2016. As donor communications specialist, she writes feature articles for Impact, the magazine for donors and friends of VCU, as well as articles for DAR’s campaign giving news site. She graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2014 with a B.A. in English with a concentration in writing, and she has maintained a focus on writing for public relations, development and civic engagement throughout her education and career.

Julie Young focuses on internal and donor communications. On the internal communications side, she writes the DAR Details weekly e-newsletter and its accompanying blog, maintains the DAR intranet and assists with Talent Management Task Force initiatives. For donor communications, she researches and writes print and digital stories about gifts and recipients for Impact donor magazine,
the donor e-newsletter, the alumni magazine and the annual faculty/staff/retiree fundraising campaign. She has won four PRSA awards since joining DAR in late 2015. She previously worked as a news reporter/feature writer for three daily newspapers, most recently the Richmond Times-Dispatch, and freelance writer for several local magazines.
