Pamunkey Indian Reservation Talk and Tour
Join fellow alumni for a visit to the Pamunkey Indian Reservation and tour of the Pamunkey Museum and Cultural Center. Documents preserved in the archives of the U.S. and England show the existence of the Pamunkey Indian Tribe since the first visit of Captain John Smith in 1607 when the English settled Jamestown. Brad Brown, who is Pamunkey and director of the Native Film Festival, will give a tour and talk about the tribe's history. Visit the Museum and Cultural Center. Learn about the Pamunkey way of life beginning 12,000 years ago to the present.
This event is co-hosted by the VCU Humanities Research Center.
Transportation from Richmond is available via charter bus. Registration fees include transportation, a box lunch and admission to the Museum and Cultural Center.
If you do not wish to travel via the charter, please meet the group at the museum at 10 a.m. Registration is still required.
When: 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5
Transportation: The bus will leave at 9 a.m. and return by 2:30 p.m. at the Development and Alumni Relations Building, 111 N. 4th Street. Street parking is available and meter fees are not collected on weekends.
